Have wooden tennis rackets break easily when used on tour?
So today, I broke my third Pro-Staff 6.1 … for some reason, when I go down on my service, I sometimes hit the racket on the court and eventually crack through nearly the crown (top of head). It is quite relevant to my question, though. When wooden bats were used on tour do they break often? I am trying to determine if modern composite material breaks more easily on impact than wood.
There is little likely. Even if today rackets are much stronger when wooden racquets were used, power is not so much a question tennis. The weight of wooden bats, combined with the soft rope reletively simply would not allow players to hit the impact they are today.
