How much (if any) is appropriate to tip a golf pro for lessons?

I’m about to go on my first golf lesson, and I’m not sure how much to tip. The lesson was a gift, so I don’t even know how much the lesson costs. Also – is this specific to a region? I’m in Chicago if that helps.

I have given golf lessons for quite awhile now, and very few people actually tip. Most people believe us golf pro’s get all that money that you’re paying. Usually at Private clubs the pro gets a large amount (80% or more) but at a private club many times they get 50-70% of the lesson money. So if you are being charged $50.00 for a lesson, that pro is only getting 25-35 dollars for that lesson. Don’t get me wrong, that is still pretty good money, but also very few pro’s give 8 lessons a day, 5 days a week, 52 weeks a year. When people who ask ME what I should tip them, I have always been a firm believer of tip what it was worth. If you felt like you didn’t get much out of it, don’t tip anything. If it was a great lesson feel free to give them an extra $10.00 bucks, it’ll make a golf pro’s day, and the next lesson you take he’ll work even harder to make you play better.
