Is street photography in Las Vegas dangerous?
Primariliy: On the strip, but also walking northeast of the strip around Desert Pines Golf Club (my room would be around that area).
Rowdy drunks, irresponsible drivers…those are concerns. What I’m more concerned about is malicious criminals who would actually try to mug somebody for his camera.
I’ve gone to Las Vegas 17 times the past 17 years primarily to shoot photos. The danger of shooting on the strip is in getting run over by taxi drivers and tourists staring at the neon lights. Don’t stand in a driveway or parking lot to shoot photos unless you’re in a spot where you can’t get run over. Also be ultra cautious when you have to cross streets.
Google shows 2 different addresses for Desert Pines Golf Club, 3415 East Bonanza Road and 5995 Vegas Valley Dr. The Bonanza address is pretty close to the long strip of “pay by the week” motels on Fremont St and I wouldn’t call it dangerous but I would describe it as an area of “urban blight.”

The Vegas Valley Drive address may be more suburban; I’m not that familiar with that area.
